Vinod Kumar
Vinod has spent more than 30 years at General Motors working across hydrogen fuel cells, battery systems, supplier development and quality engineering, and holds an MBA from Cornell University. He brings engineering discipline and systems discipline to the company.
“He spent three decades making certain that General Motors’ fuel cells and batteries did not fail.”
Vinod joined General Motors in 1994 as a quality engineer, moving through variation engineering and then into the company’s alternative powertrain programmes, covering research and engineering on hydrogen fuel cells and battery pack development.
He later moved to the commercial side as senior direct buyer for hydrogen fuel cell purchasing, before returning to quality engineering at General Motors’ Michigan operations, where he works today.
He earned an MBA from Cornell University mid-career while remaining at General Motors.
- Engineering and systems discipline drawn from three decades in safety-critical manufacturing.
- Supplier development judgement from the purchasing side of the same industry.
Reliability in his field is engineered rather than promised, and that is the standard he applies.
