“He has built two infrastructure companies from zero and sold both.”
Atul spent his early career on carrier-grade internet routing at Digital Equipment Corporation and FORE Systems, working on systems that were not permitted to go down.
In 1999 he co-founded Laurel Networks and built it to an all-cash acquisition by ECI Telecom for $88 million in 2005, then stayed on to run the resulting division.
He then served sixteen years as chief executive of Timesys, which built the embedded Linux running inside defence avionics, medical devices and automotive systems, through its sale to Lynx Software Technologies in December 2023 for an undisclosed amount.
He is managing director of TiE Pittsburgh Angels, a syndicate that has deployed more than $21 million across its network, and co-founded and chaired Innosential, an artificial intelligence and data science firm in Bengaluru.
- Two completed exits, and the discipline of building a company with a sale in view from the first day.
- Three decades of judgement on infrastructure that is not allowed to fail.
- Access to the US angel investment network through TiE Pittsburgh.
He has built, sold and handed over the kind of infrastructure business this company is trying to become.
